Let me write you a story of all you want to hear. Of intercourse and romance, drugs and beer.
Of simple plots and story devices, where no thinking is required.
I'll even make it into a series, everything you've desired.
Pick it up in the middle, why not? It's all the same. So-and-so get together,
there's sex on every page. It's the best story in the world, and it only took me six days!
Don't worry about morals, there's none to be learned.
If you hate life-long lessons, then enjoy every word.
The characters are flat with the basic of descriptions, with no voice of their own.
If one dies, no tears will be shed, there's another just around the bend.
They have no flaws to their name, no special traits to distinguish them, they're all the same.
Don't worry about remembering them, this story is stress-free, here for your pleasure.
You'll hold it like a treasure, believe it's the best thing ever written.
Oh, and do not feel guilty, do not feel smitten.
Each line was without effort, it was written with ease, so simple it was a breeze!
Now that the plot has been established and the characters defined,
time to close that book after the final line.
Slap a name on it and there you have it, a book to share, to talk about like a nasty habit.
You feel real good after reading it, do you not? Like you accomplished something grand,
and the author should be awarded for every jot.
Now, a message to you from the writers at heart,
from those who try their hardest to leave their mark.
The ones who gave each page- nay, each word careful consideration,
their characters brought to life with compassion, and their plots thought-out moderation.
Hark and listen as we don't waste our talent upon you, to these two words amply spoken.
Hear them now, be grateful we can't sue, and take them as a token as we say:
Fuck. You.

The Girl Who Was Afraid To Be
She speaks to me fondly
of passions and talents,
of guitars and stars,
with such breathless intensity
then stops short and
apologises
for speaking at all.
All because somewhere in her life,
someone she loved broke her heart
by ignoring
her beautiful words
and telling her to
shut up,
keep it down,
nobody cares.
People aren’t born sad.
We make them that way.

How to Comfort a Writer
1.
Never tell a writer he’s good enough
Because he knows this isn’t the case
And he’ll become conscious at the lie
That he can stop improving
And will be unable to show his true feelings.
Tell her she can change
And what you liked
About her displays of affection
Written in words of wonder
At the bright beautiful world ahead
2.
Never tell a writer’s she’s perfect
For she’ll twist your words into decadent deceit
She knows that this is impossible
And will realize you never looked into her heart
As she wore it on her sleeve
Tell him that there’s work to be done
Before he can truly be an artist
But

I care
i.
your words drip with crimson
as you bite your lip;
you always liked to pretend
you held the strength of metal,
and now all that’s left is the aftertaste of copper
trickling down your throat-
what happened to the child throwing pennies in the fountain?
ii.
hidden under the threaded sleeves of your sweater,
I can picture your hands shaking like earthquakes
and your fists held clenched;
I worry your fingernails cut dashed lines
into the palms of your hands,
like the ones painted on back roads and highways-
I’m worried where you plan on going
iii.
viewing your puffy eyes and hearing woebegone-winded words
tangle on your tra

EDITED: Wow, guys... Just WOW ;~;
I can't believe how much attention this poem is getting, I just... I can't even... I have so much gratitude that words simply can't describe!
Yet from the bottom of my heart, thank you all SO much for the comments, faves, and just for everything! I am truly honored and flattered, I hope I can only continue to meet your expectations and you won't have to wait for long for the next literature piece I come up with! Thank you all again, it all means so much to me!
Also, just a quick little note to clear any future confusion: the title is titled "Why Books Suck", but it's in no way referring to all books in general. No! I love books, I couldn't imagine life without them! The title is meant to be followed after the poem, the poetry intended to specify which books exactly suck and why they do. And even then, it's still just my own opinion. I hope this helps!

....*Gasp!* What's this? Have I actually written something? I have!
After a long hiatus, KatsaNovari has finally written something. Who have thunk it? I'm still struggling a little with my writing, but I feel confident enough to say that it's slowly coming back to me and I'll be writing regularly again before long. .......*Knocks on wood.*
Ahem, anyway... Now for the poem.
I'm going to be blunt about this, because I feel strongly about it. I'm so sick and tired of seeing stories, movies, books, TV shows, etc etc gaining the attention they have for no other reason than the fact that the characters are highly attractive and there's sex. And if not sex, than stupid love triangles and every page written from top to bottom with the character or characters conflicting with imaginary torments that they've made themselves, typically involving with "Oh, who do I love?!"
Even these elements wouldn't be so bad, if they were done right. But no, they're written with obvious laziness from the author who uses very common and cliched story elements to attract the attention of audiences who are too stupid to realize bad writing. Yes, I said stupid, because surely anyone who could be so rapt and engaged in these stories have low standards and probably don't read a lot in the first place. The writing is simple enough for their pleasure, and they can get through it quickly enough to watch their favorite TV show or go to the event they had planned on time. Because who wants to read a book that takes too long, am I right?
Don't get the wrong idea, I'm not trying to bash on romance in general. I admit, when it comes to genres, romance would have to be my least favorite. But even I find myself liking the subject when the author writes about it well. That's because there's character development, the plot is in depth, even if the character is having trouble sorting through his or her feelings, it's not all they're concerned about. AND THE CHARACTERS ARE ACTUALLY ALIVE!!! I swear to you, a majority of romance novels and books are the same exact thing, only the names have changed. The characters are dead and lifeless, they're there for the sole purpose of being used and to "get off".
Yet these books and stories are popular on websites like deviantart and in the real world, and I see all of these briliant books, some of which are even similar but actually GOOD, buried and never given the chance to shine in the spot light, because there's not enough "sex" in it, or the characters are actually being "reasonable" or have actual "thoughts".
I come across these type of stories and think to myself: I could write this within a day or two and become an instant hit... Because there's no challenge. These people probably didn't have to spend much time on their work, yet I see writers who's writing is absolutely brilliant and stunning take so much care and spend so much of their time on what they write (checking for spelling mistakes, fixing the plot and correcting errors, doing research), not gaining the attention they deserve.
Now that that little rant is over, I hope you enjoyed the poem Everyone is entitled to their own opinion of course, a majority of you may disagree with me, and that's completely fine. Please, feel free to comment your thoughts below, but please remember to be mature and reasonable about it. Thank you!

... This poem attracted me, simply by the very anger it excited in me, and now that I look at it, thats exactly what he wanted I realize. Such an emotional outbreakof course is what a good poem conists of, and me being an aspiring writer myself, I can very much relate to the kind of dull drek described here. (Hell, Ive even had to sit through a few stinkers for study)
Something which DOES bother me a bit though, is the almost Dr. Seussean rhyme scheme of the poem. While it is clever, it does tend to distract from the overall message, although clearly not too much, or I would not be writing this Critique. Maybe a change of meter may have been in order?
Regardless, this left a lasting impact on me as a writer myself, on a subject not oft visited. If only your sense of Technique was better honed, you could have used more clever rhymes, the execution would have been even more effective. As is, Id say it was pretty good.
